Rising from the ashes of The Clockwatchers, Bribery was born. David, Rock and Smal moved in together, got rid of the TV and spent every night writing songs, playing guitars and singing. After a week we got a new TV and decided to go to a proper rehearsal studio on Saturday mornings and stop annoying the neighbours. Rock switched from guitar to drums and we were all surprised how easily the transition from a four piece to a three piece had been. Many hangovers were sweated out in that rehearsal studio and within a year we were back on the London gig circuit. After only 8 shows, we realised that playing live, the songs sounded very raw with only bass drums and one guitar so we decided to do them justice and record an album, 'Velvet Crumbs'. By this time Rock was working as a sound engineer and we could get free studio time. We took advantage of this and started recording. Most the songs recorded during those sessions are on this site as complete MP3 downloads. Only 100 copies of the album 'Velvet Crumbs' were ever made. We are still best friends and occasionally write the odd song, but as a band, Bribery came to a natural end once these songs were recorded. Of course, we wanted fame and money like everyone else, but more importantly we wanted our songs to be heard and enjoyed by as many people as possible. Over the years we have written and recorded lots of stuff, but we feel there is something special about this particular collection of songs and would like to share that feeling with you. |
